Fried halloumi strips go very well with a traditional breakfast of fried eggs and bacon, or with poached eggs and hashbrowns.
The high melting point of halloumi cheese makes it an ideal meat accompliment on the barbecue. Just drizzle with oil and grill until light brown. Alternatively grill halloumi on skewers with pineapple, tomatoes, onion and mushrooms.
Cut halloumi in small cubes, fry in little oil and use as the protein ingredient in salads. Halloumi goes very well with tomatoes, orange and watermelon.
Halloumi cheese has a similar texture and colour as chicken breasts and can substitute the latter in many dishes. With vegetables, halloumi goes very well with aubergines, courgettes, green peppers, spinach and the like.
Mint is the most widely used herb with halloumi cheese. Oregano, coriander, basil and lemon juice are also good flavourants for halloumi cheese.
